The Lemniscate Triskelion Sporran
Our Triskelion is a unique derivation of the antediluvian“Triskele” spiral design that dates to the Neolithic era. First observed at the Newgrange Stone Age passage tomb in Boyne Valley, Ireland, the “three legged” spiral was adopted by ancient Pagan Celts, and heavily developed into numerous variant designs in the British Isles before the influx of Christianity. Though its original meaning is lost to the ages, its importance to the civilizations that have adopted it remains significant. The Triskelion has been conflated with the Holy Trinity in modern Christian tradition.
In honor of the origins of the design, our Triskelion Interchangeable Flap is arranged in an intentional 3-part graduated design. The outer perimeter of the Flap is filled with our classic Wandering Knot border, which contains the middle ring of ornate lemniscates (infinity symbols). Appropriately, these encircle the elaborate knotted Triskelion.
This is a custom colored Triskele Sporran. It is a Rob Roy style sporran with an Interchangeable Flap. The bag is made from black deer tanned leather. The flap is full grain vegetable tanned leather with a mystical, swirling triskele embossed into it. The flap on this bag has been antiqued with a leather stain to give it an aged leather look.
The bag utilizes a leather drawstring cord to close the bag at the top. The second leather cord is used to loop over the concho or clasp on the flap to hold it closed. These cords are accented with a variety of metal beads. Bead style may vary on each bag.
The back of the sporran is reinforced at the top with vegetable tanned leather. The flap attaches to the back of the bag at the top with heavy duty snaps. There are two D-rings to attach it to a sporran belt. The belt loop will comfortably fit on a 2.5 inch belt should you choose to wear it that way.
