The Lemniscate Triskelion Classic Finish Sporran Flap
Our Triskelion is a unique derivation of the antediluvian“Triskele” spiral design that dates to the Neolithic era. First observed at the Newgrange Stone Age passage tomb in Boyne Valley, Ireland, the “three legged” spiral was adopted by ancient Pagan Celts, and heavily developed into numerous variant designs in the British Isles before the influx of Christianity. Though its original meaning is lost to the ages, its importance to the civilizations that have adopted it remains significant. The Triskelion has been conflated with the Holy Trinity in modern Christian tradition.
In honor of the origins of the design, our Triskelion Interchangeable Flap is arranged in an intentional 3-part graduated design. The outer perimeter of the Flap is filled with our classic Wandering Knot border, which contains the middle ring of ornate lemniscates (infinity symbols). Appropriately, these encircle the elaborate knotted Triskelion.
This flap fits our Interchangeable style Rob Roy Sporrans. The flap is full grain vegetable tanned leather with the Lemniscate Triskelion embossed into it. It has been hand stained to give it a rich, old world finish.
