Celtic Dragon Hydra Sporran Flap

$50.00

Our Celtic Dragon Hydra Sporran Flap captures the complexity and sinuous, serpentine quality of ancient monsters. It recalls archaic Greek legends of the Lernaean Hydra. As an added layer, the four dragon heads are bound in a knotted circle, subtly referencing the Jörmungandr, the world serpent from Norse mythology, and its even more ancient predecessor, the Ouroboros.

Made from hand-selected top-grain vegetable-tanned leather, the Interchangeable Sporran Flap comes in various finishes including Classic, Chocolate, and Bronze, and has been distressed to give it an Old World feel. The color may vary slightly due to the nature of the hand-rubbed stain.

Description

About the Hydra:
Dragons were as much a part of the ancient world as the mountains and trees that surrounded the rustic people who embroidered upon their legendary existence. Not merely content to lurk in bodies of water or fly above the firmament, Dragons were credited with sculpting the very earth itself by the passage of their enormous bodies. Celebrated in a myriad of cultures in many different ways, Dragons took on a fantastic array of physical forms-including the hydra, Jörmungandr, and the Ouroboros.

Functionality:
To attach a sporran flap to one of our leather sporrans, fasten the flap to the back top of the bag by way of the heavy-duty snaps. Fasten the flap closed by using the leather cord to loop over the concho or clasp on the flap.
