The Perth Targe

A Highland Targe by Mike Pruette

The original Perth Targe is in the Perth Museum, and was illustrated in James Drummand’s “Highland Targets and Other Shields” which was published in 1873.

This targe was based on a sketch from the booklet “Highland Targets and Other Shields” by James Drummond. It is 19 inches in diameter and constructed with a 3/4 inch plywood core. The tooled Celtic designs on the front are accented by the hand hammered brass boss in the center. The back has brass rings for hanging on a guige strap or wall.

This targe is fully functional, but is intended as Celtic art. It will be an heirloom that you will want to pass down to your children.
