This is the Celtic Cross Highland Targe by Celtic Leatherworks. This leather shield was carried by the Highland warrior for personal defense. The foreground of this targe features a magnificent cross surrounded by a border of brass nails. The Celtic dragons and triquertas in the background are encircled by Celtic knotwork. The hand hammered brass boss has been etched with a similar cross to accent the shield. The back is covered with fur and has adjustable arm straps with reproduction brass buckles. This targe is 19 inches in diameter and weighs about 10 pounds.
