The Brooch Targe

A Highland Targe by Mike Pruette

This targe was inspired by an early Celtic brooch that was unearthed in Great Britain. The brooch was dated from the 12th century. The center boss is hand hammered solid brass. It is 19 inches in diameter and weighs about 10 pounds. The front of the targe is covered in hand tooled leather. The back has a hide cover with the fur left on it. This particular targe has adjustable arm and grip handles on it, this allows the targe to be worn or mounted on the wall to display with relative ease. It has a wood core.

This targe is fully functional, but is intended as Celtic art. It will be an heirloom that you will want to pass down to your children.
